TARU: Plantation Drive by YUF
Now, more than ever, there is a dire need of environmental conscience among people. With increased rates of commercial deforestation, global warming, and a worldwide climate crisis, we, as a society, need to step up and take action to elevate, if not cure, the ailing planet. Principles of sustainable development are no longer to be preached just in theory but need to be implemented practically. With recent occurrences of large forest fires across many continents, the world’s forest cover is depleting at an unprecedented rate. Therefore, it is our responsibility to contribute in whatever way we can to help replenish the green in the world.
YUF has been conducting TARU: a Plantation Drive since it’s inception. Every year, this plantation drive is organised for a week. Members and volunteers of YUF have collectively planted over 2000 trees in various parts of Bhubaneswar, Rayagada, and Puri. Additionally, the plants are monitored and continued efforts are made to incorporate more areas under TARU.
This small initiative only aims to grow its branches wider and cover more areas and leave a better, greener world for the future generations.
