Pledge to follow
Traffic rules are basically meant to ensure the smooth and safe mobility of vehicles and pedestrians to their desired paths. Normally, Violation of traffic rules is seen a lot which eventually leads to serious injuries ,road accident and deaths. According to statistics, Road accidents have been a major cause for concern across the Indian subcontinent. In 2018 alone, the country reported around 151 thousand fatalities due to road accidents. Each year, about three to five percent of the country’s GDP was invested in road accidents. Therefore, The Government of India has issued National Road Safety policy and several measures in order to reduce the incidence of road accidents, injuries and fatalities. Moreover, there have been some amendments in the traffic rules in 2019.
Our YU foundation has been staying up to date with the amendments. In order to express our concern and responsibility towards the major issue of Road Accidents , we conducted the project “pledge to follow “ at KISS with the association of odisha road transportation department and police commissionerate, Bhubaneswar. About 2,00,000 students from across 100 schools pledged to abide by the traffic rules and regulations. The project aimed to manifest consciousness about the subject and the importance of the traffic rules.
Our members also organised a Skit and released a Mascot which inspires number of people, especially youth to become a responsible citizen. We always look forward to the establishment of youth and their significant contribution towards the Nation.
